The Twins of the Kingdom of Taun
Characters:
· King Datu Taun:
The King of Taun who’s easily provoked by other people’s words. He’s pretty unfair to his wives on the beginning, but also a caring father in the end.
· Queen Dewi Mas:
A kind-hearted old wife of the king who had a noble and wise character. She has always remained patient and steadfast whenever there’s a trouble coming. A down-to-earth person, a faithful wife, and a loving mother.
· Sunggar Tutul:
The mean, liar younger wife of the king who’s also a slanderer.
· The Captain and his crews
Kind, polite and caring people who sailed in a small boat across the sea.
· Raden Nuna Putra Janjaq
A brave young man who came after his father to seek justice for his mother.
· Dewi Rinjani
The sister of Raden Nuna Putra Janjaq; a kind-hearted and also an obedient girl.

The story:
Long time ago there was a small kingdom near the present harbor of Lembar reigned by a King named Datu Taun and his wife, the kind and noble Queen, Dewi Mas. It was a kingdom filled with happiness, peace and security. However, there was one thing which mars the happiness of the King and Queen; and that was the fact they didn’t have the heir to inherit the throne. As time went on, finally Datu Taun asked his wife to marry another woman in order to change the current situation. The kind Queen agreed to the King’s wish and soon he married the daughter of MinisterAur, a woman named Sunggar Tutul.
After the marriage, the King was very seldom seen in the Queen’s chamber; he was in his younger wife’s chamber all the time. This caused a lot of concern for the elders of the kingdom. Around this time Dewi Mas was pregnant, so she remain patient regarding to that matter. The fact that the Queen was pregnant shocked Sunggar Tutul, where she then thought of a way to dispose her. She told the Datu Taun that the child in the Queen’s tummy was not his, but Loq Deos, Dewi Mas’ courtier who often served her. To this matter, the King actually believed to this liar woman’s words without questioning it, so he decided to banish her away. But of course there were people who supported her, telling the King that she wasn’t guilty of adulterous act, but they were compelled to Datu Taun’s order and those who objected him would be sent away alongside the Queen.
Dewi Mas arranged that the people who had been sent away with her were all happily settled. She had accepted the fact that she was banished but she couldn’t stand if she was causing the people who had been banished with her trouble. One day, when the Queen was sitting on her abode, she spotted a small boat sailing on the sea. Meanwhile in the ship, the Captain and the crew also saw Dewi Mas and they thought that she was a female Jinn. But they were unsure so they sat their anchor there in the island. The Captain was stunned by her beauty by the time they could finally saw see her clearly. He then asked her if she was a human or not, and the Queen told him what happened. He felt great sympathy for her, he even proposed her but Dewi Mas refused, telling that she was still carrying the King’s child and she ten asked him to transported to the island of Bali.
A period of time later the Queen gave birth to twins and each being born with an extraordinary attachment: the boy with a keris and the girl with an arrow. The boy was named Raden Nuna Janjaq and the girl was Dewi Rinjani. They both grew up but they never knew about their father. However, someday they asked about this matter to the Queen as in they often heard the word “father” from their playmates. Dewi Mas had to lie at first but then as they kept asking her about it she then had no choice but to tell them the reality. Raden Nuna Janjanq then asked his mother for her permission to pursue their father and when he got the permission he left with the keris he had born with. At the village of Labuhan Tereng, he met a passerby who turned out to be Loq Deos who had disappeared from the palace because he was accused of committing adultery with the Queen. He then lead Raden Nuna Janjaq to the Kingdom of Taun.
When he’s in the palace’s front gate, he asked the guard to take him to Datu Taun. The guard, however, saw this as something rude, so he pushed him away when he made a move to pass the guard. The other attendance had noticed the boy and his aggressiveness, so they all moved to prevent him from advancing any further but they were all defeated by Raden Nuna Janjaq and his keris. He then proceeded to an inner chamber where he found the King. The King felt offended by his presence and soon a furious battle ensued between father and son. But Datu Taun then heard an inner voice where soon knew that this boy he was fighting to was his son and he released him. Raden Nuna Janjaq then told him about the truth. After this, the King realized his mistakes and went to take Dewi Mas back with him to the palace. Sunggar Tutul begged for the Queen’s forgiveness, she was willing to grant and then they lived in harmony.
